Oppo Releases N3, Announces R5, Both Making Room for Fresh Tech Gossips

Oppo’s flagship N3 Android smartphone is finally out now, and with it, the announcement of another smartphone, the R5 too.

The Chinese company has now listed N3 in it’s website with a price tag of CNY 3,999, which is approximately 40,100 INR. Also, the phone will cost $649 in the States, which is again, roughly 39,800 INR. The phone is all set to hit the market in about twenty regions toward the end of 2014. As of now, the phone features a single SIM card slot. But, a dual SIM model will soon be out as per reports.

What’s out of the ordinary in N3?
It’s the new Ultra Image 2.0 suit enabled motorized swiveling camera that’s being highlighted. Programmed with the ability to keep track of moving objects and rotatable almost by degrees of 206, this 16 megapixels camera with a 1/23 sensor and pixel size of 1.34 micrometers has promised to take the craze for selfies to a whole new level. It is also capable of shooting panoramas to up to a flattering 64 megapixels with geo-tagging facility, touch focus, face detection and carries an envious lens build which is Schneider Kreuznach-certified. And then, there’s dual LED flash too.

N3 is incredibly focused mainly with this smart camera with never-before features like mini remote controllable shutter speed, an ultra macro mode after focus, and above all, shooting in RAW.

What’s ordinary yet interesting?
The phone’s huge, both in features and in size. It boasts a 5.5 inches IPS LCD touch screen made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with more than 403 ppi pixel density. Talking of thickness, it’s a 9.9 mm mammoth measuring 192 grams.

The OS input is Android KitKat 4.4 with Oppo’s very own ColorOS 2.0.1 skin. The phone carries a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974AA Snapdragon 801 chipset that is backed by a 2GB RAM, an Adreno 330 GPU and Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU.

Inbuilt memory is up to 32 GB, expandable via microSD up to 128 GB. N3 is backed by a 3000mAh battery facilitated by Oppo’s VOOC rapid charging technology that claims to charge it from 0 to almost 75% in just 30 minutes. Also, it carries the 4G LTE, a Bluetooth version 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and the option of USB 2.0 connectivity.

What’s the news for R5?
After this ultimate ravishing selfie phone, Oppo now talks of another flagship – the 64-bit R5 smartphone, officially declared as the world’s thinnest smartphone.

R5 is just 4.85 m thick and has a frame made of a 3D-welded alloy of aluminum. The specialty about it is that the frame has been hand-polished and measures just 4.4 mm in thickness. The screen is a 5.2 inches AMOLED of 1080p resolution, which is roughly 423 ppi. Also, the phone weighs 155 grams.

Through R5, Oppo gives the word about the best brightness, lowest possible reflectivity and near accurate colors. Powered by a Snapdragon 615 Qualcomm octa-core chipset, with an 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM, R5 has a special coolant to eliminate heat from its chipset. This coolant has been prepared from liquid metal and phase-changing materials, and is another key feature of R5.

The primary camera comes with a 13 megapixels Sony IMX214 sensor and an aperture of f/2.0. The secondary camera is of 5 megpixels. This thin smartphone surprisingly carries a 2,000mAh Li-Polymer battery, again with the VOOC rapid charge technology support. GPS, GPRS, WiFi and Bluetooth are the other usual features.

But, the phone is so thin that Oppo decided not to include an audio jack in it – the only setback so far. So, for music, users will have to depend solely on some wireless O-Music accessory or a microUSB-to-audio-jack adapter.

The phone will soon be up with a supposed price of $499 although the company has not declared the launch or release date as of yet. A cool selfie phone and another with the world’s-thinnest tag, way to go Oppo!
